The waste journal #01 — Montreal's July 1st moving-day waste
Every July 1st, Montreal turns into an ocean of furniture and objects abandoned on the sidewalks. In the very first episode of the Waste Journal, Rakoon takes on this huge topic — 5 minutes to laugh, understand, and rethink how we move. (Video in French.)
⏱️ The concept
The waste journal is a short 5-minute format to inform and entertain you about waste issues across the province. We pick a topic, break it down, laugh a little — and leave with concrete ideas to waste less.
🦝 The host: Rakoon
At the helm, none other than Rakoon, the new supreme chief of all Quebec raccoons. Nobody knows waste better than the one who digs through our trash… and he doesn't mince his words!
📍 First topic: the July 1st move
For our premiere, we tackle a big one: the waste tied to Montreal's July 1st moving day. 📦🚛 Every year, the same scene — sidewalks overflowing with furniture, appliances and perfectly working objects that too often end up in landfill.
Why it matters to Jetroque
This is exactly the waste Jetroque wants to erase. Instead of carrying your couch to the curb, you can swap or give it in 10 seconds to a neighbour — and if no one takes it, our team comes to pick it up for free at home and give it to an accredited non-profit. Never resold, always given.
The waste journal is our way of talking about these issues differently: with a raccoon, a smile, and a serious goal behind it.
