✨ Tutorial · 3 steps

How it works

Updated June 12, 2026

Swapping or giving an item on Jetroque takes less than 10 seconds to list and just a few days to find a taker. Here's exactly how it works, step by step.

Overview in 3 steps

Whether you want to swap an item for another, give it to a neighbour, or use our guaranteed 60-day pickup, the journey starts the same way. Here are the three universal steps.

1

List in 10 seconds

One photo is all it takes. Our AI writes the description, picks the category, and estimates the value. You review, you publish.

2

Match with your neighbours

Swipe through items near you. When there's a mutual match, the chat opens automatically to arrange the meetup.

3

Complete and rate

Exchange or hand off in person. Rate the other person. If no one claims the item within 60 days, Jetroque handles it for you.

Step 1 — List an item in 10 seconds

No more spending 20 minutes writing a description and hunting for the right category. Jetroque takes care of everything with its artificial intelligence, trained on millions of everyday objects.

How to list in practice

  1. Open the Jetroque app and tap the "+" button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Take a single photo of your item, or choose one from your gallery. A clear, well-lit photo against a neutral background gives the best results.
  3. Wait 2–3 seconds: the AI analyses the image and automatically suggests a title, a description, a category, and an estimated value.
  4. Review the suggestions, change anything that doesn't fit, then choose whether you want to swap or give.
  5. Tap Publish. Your listing goes live immediately, visible to neighbours in your area.
💡 Good to know: one photo is all you need — the AI handles the title, description, category, and estimated value. You can add more photos to reassure takers, but it's never required.

What items can I list?

Almost anything, as long as it's functional, clean, and legal: furniture, appliances, clothing, dishware, toys, books, tools, bikes, sports equipment, electronics, musical instruments, baby gear, video games, etc.

For the complete list of prohibited items, see Article 11 of the Terms of Service.

Step 2 — Match with your neighbours

The heart of Jetroque is connecting people. Everything is geolocated, using a swipe interface (left to pass, right to like), with a mutual match system that ensures both people are interested before opening a conversation.

How swiping works

  1. On the Discover tab, browse available items near you. You can filter by category, distance, or mode (swap / give).
  2. Swipe right (or tap ♥) on items that interest you. Left to pass.
  3. When another user has swiped right on one of your items and you swipe right on one of theirs, it's a match!
  4. The chat opens automatically. You can agree on a place, a time, or simply talk to make sure the item is exactly what you're looking for.

The Jetroque Credits System (Troken)

If a direct swap isn't possible (you have something the other person wants, but not the other way around), you can use Jetroque Credits — our internal community currency — to acquire the item. You earn Credits by listing items useful to the community, referring friends, or participating in eco challenges.

Credits are never convertible to real money and never leave the Platform. Full details in Article 10 of the Terms of Service.

Step 3 — Complete the swap or donation

You're swapping an item

  1. Agree on a place and time in the chat. A public, neutral location is recommended (café, park, metro station).
  2. Prepare your item: cleaned, complete, ready to hand over.
  3. Meet the other person and inspect each other's items.
  4. Confirm the exchange in the app (tap "I received my item").
  5. Rate the other person (1 to 5 stars). This is essential for trust within the community.

You're giving an item

  1. Choose the recipient from those who have expressed interest.
  2. Agree on a time and handoff location.
  3. Hand the item over in person. No money changes hands — it's a pure gift.
  4. Confirm in the app and rate the recipient on punctuality and courtesy.

Bonus: for every donation, you earn Jetroque Credits proportional to the item's estimated value, and your CO₂ avoided impact counter goes up.

No one claimed the item within 60 days?

If you're a Jetroque+ member ($97 CAD/year) or a resident of a Partner City, Jetroque arranges a free pickup at your door and redistributes the item to a partner non-profit.

  1. After 60 days, the app offers you automatic pickup.
  2. Choose a time slot from those available based on our transport partner's routes.
  3. Prepare the item, accessible at your building entrance.
  4. Our team picks it up, photographs it for traceability, and delivers it to the partner non-profit.
⚠️ Home pickup service currently available in Quebec only. Swapping and giving between neighbours works everywhere in the world.

Safety tips for in-person meetups

Jetroque does everything possible to make connections safe (verified profiles, ratings, reporting, anti-fraud moderation), but in-person meetings between users remain your responsibility. A few common-sense rules:

  • Prefer public places: a café, metro station, park, or in front of a business. Avoid homes for a first meeting, unless the item is too large to move easily.
  • Meet during the day whenever possible.
  • Let someone you trust know the place and time of the meetup.
  • Check the other person's ratings before confirming the exchange.
  • Never share your banking details or exact home address in the chat. Jetroque will never ask for them.
  • Report any suspicious behaviour using the 🚩 button on the profile or via info@jetroque.com.
⚠️ Monetary transactions are prohibited: no exchange of money (cash, Interac, PayPal, cryptocurrency) should take place. Any such request must be reported. See Terms of Service, Article 11.

Frequently asked questions

About 10 seconds: one photo is all it takes, the AI handles the rest, one tap to confirm, and you're live. Adding more photos is possible but entirely optional.

Is my data protected?
Yes. The core of your data (profile, listings, messaging) is hosted in Quebec, Canada. Jetroque complies with Law 25 (Quebec), PIPEDA (Canada), and GDPR (EU). Details: Privacy Policy v2026.2.
What if I don't like the item once I receive it?
