What furniture can I post on Jetroque?
Practically anything that is functional, clean, and transportable. Here are the main accepted subcategories:
How to give away furniture in 3 steps
Take a photo
One clear photo is enough. Jetroque's AI identifies the type of furniture, generates the description, and estimates its indicative value.
Post in "Give" mode
Select "Give" rather than "Swap." Include the dimensions, condition, and if possible a pickup time slot.
Hand it over in person
Interested neighbours contact you via chat. Arrange a meeting and hand over the furniture. Rate the person afterwards.
Checklist: the perfect furniture listing on Jetroque
Before posting, check that:
- The furniture is functional (not broken, not unstable)
- It is clean and odour-free
- All parts and hardware are present (or easy to replace)
- You have the exact dimensions (W × D × H)
- One photo is enough: the AI writes the listing (additional photos optional, in natural light)
- You indicate whether the furniture is flat-pack to make transport easier
- You specify the floor and whether there is a lift, if applicable
No one taking your furniture? The 60-day pickup
An exclusive service in Quebec, included with Jetroque+ ($97 CAD/year) or free for residents of a Partner City:
- After 60 days, the app offers you automatic pickup.
- You choose a pickup time slot from those available based on scheduled routes.
- You prepare the furniture, accessible at the entrance to your home (ground floor, vestibule, landing).
- Our partner team comes, photographs the furniture for traceability, and delivers it to a recognized partner non-profit (reuse centre, community organization, school, resource centre).
You then receive a proof of donation and an impact certificate indicating the recipient organization as well as the kilograms diverted and CO₂ avoided.
What if the 60-day pickup isn't available in your area?
If you are not in Quebec or prefer not to wait 60 days, you can:
- Post your furniture in "Give" mode on Jetroque — many neighbours respond in under 48 hours, especially in dense cities (Montreal, Paris, Brussels, Lyon, Geneva).
- Mention that you can help with transport over short distances, which speeds up requests.
- Contact a local reuse centre or community organization directly: many francophone cities have structures equivalent to Quebec's non-profits.
Frequently asked questions about furniture
How do I give away furniture for free?
Download Jetroque, photograph your furniture, the AI generates the description, then post in "Give" mode. Interested neighbours contact you via chat to arrange a handoff.
Who comes to pick up my furniture?
For neighbour-to-neighbour donations, the recipient comes to you. If no one takes it within 60 days, Jetroque arranges free pickup at your home (Jetroque+ members or residents of a Partner City in Quebec).
Can I post broken or damaged furniture?
No. Jetroque only accepts furniture that is functional, in good usable condition, clean, and complete. For irreparable furniture: an eco-centre. For repairable furniture, clearly describe the defects — some handy folks are happy to take it on.
How much does the service cost?
Giving and swapping are completely free. The 60-day pickup is included with Jetroque+ ($97 CAD/year) or free for residents of a Partner City.
What happens to collected furniture?
It is systematically given, at no charge, to a recognized partner non-profit (reuse centres, community organizations, schools, resource centres in Quebec). Jetroque never resells collected furniture.
Can I swap furniture for something else?
Yes! "Swap" mode lets you exchange your furniture for another piece of furniture, an item, or Jetroque Credits. The terms of the exchange are freely agreed upon between both users.
