A platform built in Montréal for Montréalers
Jetroque was born in Montréal, on Saint-Denis, in 2024. The idea came from a very local observation: every moving Saturday, tonnes of furniture, dishware, toys, and appliances end up on the sidewalks of the Plateau, Rosemont, or Mile-End. Yet three streets away, neighbours are looking for exactly those items. Jetroque closes that gap in 10 seconds.
The service is free to post, swap, or donate. And for Montréalers who want peace of mind, the 60-day pickup guarantee lets Jetroque come to your home to collect any item that didn't find a taker, and hand it over to a recognized partner non-profit.
Why Montréal?
With its density, its neighbourhood spirit, and its culture of July 1st moving day, Montréal is a natural fit for swapping and donating. Every summer, the equivalent of several hundred truckloads of functional furniture ends up on the curb. Jetroque aims to turn that waste into local circulation.
How does it work in Montréal?
Post
One photo, the AI describes the item and estimates its value, and you post in 10 seconds.
Match
A neighbour from the Plateau, Rosemont, or Verdun shows interest. The chat opens.
Pick up
Meet in a public place, or get a free home pickup if nobody takes the item within 60 days.
The free 60-day home pickup
This is Jetroque's signature service, exclusive to Quebec. If your item doesn't find a taker within 60 days of posting, Jetroque takes care of it:
- The app automatically offers you a pickup at the end of the 60 days.
- You choose a time slot from those offered based on our Montréal transport partner's routes.
- You prepare the item, accessible at the entrance of your home (ground floor, vestibule, landing).
- Our team comes by, photographs the item for traceability, and delivers it to a recognized partner non-profit in Montréal (reuse centre, community organization, school).
Tips: where to meet in Montréal?
For an in-person swap or donation, public and busy locations are always preferable, especially for a first meeting. A few popular meeting spots on the island:
- Metro stations: Mont-Royal, Laurier, Beaubien, Jean-Talon, Square-Victoria, Atwater, Berri-UQAM
- Parks: Lafontaine, Mont-Royal park, Jarry park, Maisonneuve park, Jean-Drapeau park
- Cafés and markets: Café Olimpico, Jean-Talon Market, Atwater Market, Maisonneuve Market
- Public squares: Place des Festivals, Square Saint-Louis, Place Émilie-Gamelin
Always check the person's reviews before confirming the meeting. Never share your banking details in the chat — Jetroque uses no real money between users (see Terms of Service article 11).
Local environmental impact
Every item swapped or donated in Montréal via Jetroque means:
- Several kilograms of material diverted from eco-centres or municipal sorting;
- A reduction in equivalent CO₂ avoided compared to buying new (methodology based on ADEME and Recyc-Québec data);
- A direct contribution to the City of Montréal's waste reduction objectives;
- Support for partner non-profits and community organizations that receive the collected items.
The app shows you your personal impact counter: number of items saved, kg diverted, CO₂ avoided — so you can see your contribution.
