Turning Waste into Reuse in Quebec

Updated June 25, 2026

Jetroque is a Quebec-built mobile app that lets you barter or give away functional items in seconds — rather than seeing them end up in a landfill. Simple, engaging circular economy that benefits the whole community.

Our mission

"Make reuse a daily reflex — especially among younger generations — by making it as easy to give or barter an object as it is to send a message."

Nicknamed "the Tinder of bartering"

Why Jetroque was born

Jetroque tackles a Quebec paradox that is as absurd as it is avoidable: while thousands of functional objects end up in landfills every week, vulnerable families lack essential goods, community organizations lack resources, and municipalities watch their residual materials management costs skyrocket.

Our platform transforms an everyday act — getting rid of a piece of furniture, an appliance, clothing, or sports gear that still works — into a genuine act of circular economy, simple, engaging, and useful to the whole community. In seconds, the user takes a photo, the built-in artificial intelligence automatically generates a title, a description, and a carbon impact estimate, and the item is published to the Jetroque community.

Where most second-hand platforms are built on selling, calculating, and commissions, Jetroque made the opposite choice: bartering and giving, with no monetary transactions between neighbours.

Designed, hosted, and operated in Quebec

At a time when digital sovereignty is becoming a strategic issue for public administrations, Jetroque stands out through its total commitment to Quebec.

Law 25 compliance

Citizens' personal data stays in Quebec, processed by a Quebec team, under the protection of Quebec laws. No intrusive foreign jurisdiction (such as the U.S. Cloud Act).

Hydroelectric power

Designed, developed, managed, and hosted in Quebec, on Quebec servers powered primarily by hydroelectricity — a clean, local infrastructure.

Local skilled jobs

This choice actively supports the Quebec tech ecosystem and the creation of local skilled jobs. No compromises on privacy, no grey areas.

A unique guarantee: home pickup within 60 days

Where Jetroque sets itself radically apart from the competition is in its guaranteed pickup commitment. We are committed to never letting a functional object end up in a landfill.

Concretely, here's how it works

  • If an item doesn't find a taker within a reasonable time, our team picks it up free of charge at your door.
  • No cost to the citizen. No trip to organize.
  • The item is left on the doorstep, in the garage, or on the balcony, and our logistics teams take care of the rest.
  • Service included free for all citizens in partner cities, funded through a direct city–Jetroque agreement.

No resale: everything goes to accredited nonprofits

Our strongest commitment — and the one that most deeply defines Jetroque's identity — is our no-resale policy. Items that are collected are never resold, never monetized, never diverted for profit.

They are systematically donated free of charge to nonprofits accredited by the Quebec government: local community organizations serving low-income families, newcomers, women in vulnerable situations, youth in transition, and people experiencing homelessness. Every transaction is tracked, documented, and accessible to the City.

1. Item listed

The citizen lists their functional item in 10 seconds.

2. 60-day pickup

If no one claims it, Jetroque picks it up free of charge at home.

3. Donated to a nonprofit

The item is donated free of charge to a local accredited nonprofit.

4. Families helped

Direct, tangible support for the local community.

Five major challenges, one solution

Jetroque acts simultaneously on four fronts — environmental, economic, social, and digital. Here are the five interconnected problems we solve.

1. Massive waste of functional objects

In Quebec, more than 30% of materials sent to landfill are still perfectly usable. Jetroque lets you barter or give them away in seconds, backed by the 60-day pickup guarantee.

2. Soaring municipal costs

Cities spend more than $1.2 billion a year on residual materials. Jetroque offers an estimated reduction of more than 35% in those costs, without compromising citizen service.

3. Precarity among vulnerable families

Tens of thousands of Quebec families cannot afford to equip themselves. Unlike its competitors, Jetroque never resells: everything goes to accredited nonprofits.

4. The climate emergency and throwaway culture

Reusing an object emits up to ten times less CO₂ than producing a new one. Our ambition: avoid 5,500 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent by 2028, through an engaging "Tinder of bartering" experience.

5. Data sovereignty

Most platforms are hosted abroad, exposing data to the U.S. Cloud Act. Jetroque hosts 100% of its infrastructure in Quebec — an essential guarantee for cities subject to Law 25.

Traction already proven

In just four months, Jetroque has won a growing number of institutional and corporate clients, and captured the attention of national media.

Our values

Five core values guide every decision: radical transparency, absolute zero waste, concrete solidarity, Quebec sovereignty, and innovation in service of impact.

Reuse before recycling

Giving an object a second life is better than recycling it. Our absolute priority: extending the useful life of things.

Concrete solidarity

The best exchanges happen between neighbours. Unclaimed items go directly to nonprofits and vulnerable families.

Radical transparency

Data hosted in Quebec, Law 25 and GDPR compliance, donation traceability, registration in the Quebec Lobby Registry. Trust is earned.

Quebec sovereignty

Designed, developed, and hosted in Quebec. Supporting the local tech ecosystem and skilled Quebec jobs.

AI in service of people

Artificial intelligence simplifies publishing (title, description, carbon impact), but never replaces human judgment in the decision.

Absolute zero waste

We prohibit all monetary transactions between neighbours. Jetroque is not a marketplace, nor a vehicle for speculation.
